Biography: Trude was born in Szombathely, a town on the Austrian border in Hungary. Trude became aware of Jewish persecution when Viennese refugees started to arrive into Hungary  talking about how life was changing for the worse for Jews. By 1944, Trude had faced this persecution herself due to restrictions posed by the anti Semitic Hungarian Government. She saw it increase hugely in March 1944 when Hungary was occupied. Trude wanted to go home and be with her parents, but found herself being deported with her parents to Auschwitz. Trude survived a death march and was eventually liberated.
