The National Holocaust Centre and Museum’s Endowment Fund is a “ring fenced” sum of money which is absolutely essential to the long term future of the museum. It will provide annual income over the very long term insuring that future generations can be engaged in learning about the Holocaust. In building the fund we are delighted to have secured the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).

HLF through their Catalyst Endowment Fund have agreed to double every donation made to our endowment between now and June 2017 up to a total of £500,000. With gift aid, the Centre can claim back a further 25% of any donation. HLF’s match funding applies to the gross donation, giving an amount to invest equal to 250% of the original donation. Your £100 donation could be transformed into £250.

We have secured just over £200,000 but the support from HLF is time limited. We only have until June to raise this money and to create an endowment fund of £1,000,000.

The significance of the Endowment Fund for the Forever Project

The ongoing costs of storing, running and preserving the digital archive for the 10 survivors involved in the Forever Project has been quoted as £15,000 per year.  £1,000,000 endowment will ensure new audiences can “speak” with survivors.

The significance of the Endowment Fund for our Collections

Collections require careful preventative conservation through managing humidity, temperature, light and pollutants. We also safeguard them from theft and man-made disasters. £20,000 annual investment is required as our Collections age and grow.  £1,000,000 endowment will preserve the remarkable items entrusted to our care.

The significance of the endowment fund for the exhibitions

The exhibitions experience inevitable wear and tear. Technical equipment needs repairing and materials updating. £30,000 per year is spent on maintenance. £1,000,000 endowment will keep exhibitions in excellent condition for visitors.
